The West Central Michigan Emergency Management Support Team is aimed at providing qualified Emergency Operations Center and Emergency Management staff to augment local emergency capabilities. In 2009, the EMST concept was officially added to both the Osceola and Newaygo County Emergency Plans, forming to a joint West Central Michigan E.M.S.T. Plans for adding members from additional counties including Clare, Mecosta, and Lake are goals for 2010. |

WEST CENTRAL MICHIGAN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SUPPORT TEAM (E.M.S.T.) The West Central Michigan Emergency Management Support Team (W.C.M.-E.M.S.T.) is focused on developing volunteer emergency personnel to support local emergency / disaster response. The W.C.M.-E.M.S.T. is established as a Type IV N.I.M.S. E.O.C. Support team with members trained and designated for the following critical duties:

· Serve as Emergency Operations Center staff during emergencies · Assist in maintenance of the jurisdictions Emergency Plan · Provide technical support in special emergency management capability projects ·

· Serve as auxiliary emergency management staff as needed · Support emergency management exercises, drills, and training sessions · Other duties as necessary

EMST ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: ή Assistance to Osceola and Mason Counties in the Federal DR1777 2008 Severe Storm response ή 2008 M.E.M.A. Volunteer of the Year award winner ή As well as many other exercises and responses in Region 6

EMST ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: ή Completion of administrative requirements ή Completion of Independent Study Courses, certified NIMS compliancy ή ESMT basic training and technical training ή Planning and Exercise training ή E-team certification and MPSCS radio training
West Central Michigan Emergency Management Support is help to high standards and is expected to follow through on continuing education and training provided both by the team leaders and on there own
